NOVEMBER FOX BY ROBIN FURNESS LIMITED EDITION PRINT

Commissioned by David Hodges & Christian Kwek November Fox is an iconic scene of a hunting Day across Happy Valley.

The print is a wonderfully evocative view of hunting in Happy Valley a view which is especially know and remembered fondly by all who have followed the NCH hounds over the decades..

Proceeds of the sale of the prints will go to the NCH and have been specifically allocated to fund the running costs of our Golden Eagle which was seen soaring above Happy Valley on the opening meet and is an essential plank of now hunting within the law.

Owning, keeping and flying an eagle is clearly a significant additional financial burden to the running of the hunt and so we hope we can count on your generosity.

Please contact Malcolm & Gina Mills if you would like to reserve a print (unmounted).

nchhonsec@yahoo.co.uk

There are only 100 numbered copies some of which are already sold so hurry to reserve yours.

The copy above is a photo of the original. Please forgive the shadowy marks on the sky, it is only the photographer reflected in the glass.

Notes about the painter Robin Furness

Robin is the pen name assumed by Sir Stephen Roberts Furness, while at Charterhouse School. He served in the Royal Navy between 1951-62 and gained the rank of Lieutenant. He succeeded to the title of 3rd Baronet Furness, of Tunstall Grange, West Hartlepool, co Durham in 1974.

He is a sporting artist of renown, as well as a farmer and former MFH of the Bedale Hunt (1979-87).

Robin learned to paint under the tuition of Ian Fleming-Williams while at Charterhouse. Later he was influenced by the North Country sporting artist, Tom Carr. Robin specialises in rural and sporting subjects working ‘en plein air’. His work is particularly notable for outstanding landscapes, probably the best to be seen in hunting paintings today. His work is often compared to the well known sporting artist Lionel Edwards.

Robin has told us that he feels “November Fox” is one of his best works.

Robin visited in November 2013 and started the painting with us and then finished it over the winter. The original is owned by Mr David Hodges & Mr Christian Kwek. They have kindly allowed a very limited edition print to be produced, signed and numbered by the artist.
